Martin G. Prosky MD, FACP

Dr. Prosky has been nationally recognized as a top gastroenterologist by US News and World Report as determined by Castle and Connolly. Washingtonian Magazine , in surveying physicians, has repeatedly acknowledged  Dr. Prosky as one of the “Top Doctors” in the treatment of digestive diseases.  Northern Virginia Magazine identified Dr. Prosky as one of the regions best gastroenterologists.

Dr. Prosky has been in private practice for over 20 years.  He completed his fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Emory University. His Internal Medicine Residency was done at the Cornell University Hospital Program.  Dr. Prosky was chosen for the highly selective Seven Year B.A./M.D. program at Brooklyn College and the State University of New York , Downstate Medical Center.

Dr. Prosky welcomes new patients for screening colonoscopy, and evaluation of all digestive tract problems..

Sirkrishna Vemana MD

Dr. Srikrishna Vemana was born and raised in Ohio. He followed in his father’s footsteps and pursued a degree in medicine from the Medical College of Ohio in Toledo, OH.  He completed his internal medicine residency and gastroenterology fellowship at Case Western Reserve University/Case Medical Center in Cleveland, OH.  He served as the Chief Gastroenterology fellow and was awarded the excellence in teaching award by the medical house staff.  He had particular interests in developmental endoscopy and creating teaching videos. Following his training he was asked to stay on as clinical faculty at Case Western Reserve University and the Louis Stokes VA Medical Center specializing in inflammatory bowel disease.  Afterwards he moved to Northern Virginia and spent time in private practice before returning home to Ohio to be closer to family.  Shortly thereafter, he returned to Northern Virginia and has continued his gastroenterology practice here.

Dr. Vemana’s interests include all general gastroenterology issues with particular attention to colorectal cancer screening , gastroesophageal reflux disease, functional GI disorders and hemorrhoid treatment. He is an active member in the American College of Gastroenterology and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. He has offices in Annandale and Arlington, Virgina.


Katie Zimmerman CRNP

Katie has worked as a nurse practioner in gastroenterology for over 15 years. Before obtaining her master's degree as a nurse practitioner in 1997, she worked as a surgical intensive care nurse for 4 years and a transplant surgical nurse for 2 years. She practiced in Alabama and Louisiana and settled in Northern Virginia in 2009 where she began practicing at NOVA GI. She has served as a research coordinator for several Hepatitis C research projects and as the facilitator for both IBD and Hep C support groups. She is an active member of the ACG, AANP, and VCNP.

Given her years of experience, Katie specializes in caring for patients with acute onset gastrointestinal problems including abdominal pain, rectal bleeding, altered bowel habits, Crohns, and Ulcerative Colitis flares, GERD, etc. She is also experienced at caring for chronic hepatitis patients and managing treatment for Hep B and C. Her services provide quick access to care when an unexpected illness arises as well as timely follow up appointments to discuss test results and treatment progress. She is able to evaluate patients, order diagnostic testing and prescribe appropriate treatment for the spectrum of GI illnesses.


Monica Buzzetta PA-C

Monica has worked as a Physician Assistant in northern Virginia since graduating from the Duke University Physician Assistant Program in 2004. She worked in internal medicine for 2 years prior to joining our practice in 2006. She has also served as adjunct faculty and a guest lecturer at Shenandoah University's Physician Assistant Program in Winchester, VA.  She is an active member of VAPA and AAPA.  

Monica cares for patients with a variety of GI conditions including Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, infectious colitis, GERD, Barrett's esophagus, viral hepatitis, liver disease, and many other gastrointestinal diseases.  She is able to provide care through televisits for existing patients as well as follow-up for acute and chronic issues.  She is able to evaluate patients, order diagnostic testing and prescribe appropriate treatment for the spectrum of GI illnesses. 


Stafford S. Goldstein M.D., F.A.C.P., F.A.C.G.

Dr. Stafford Goldstein is well known among his patients and colleagues for his expertise and caring bedside manner in managing patients with all digestive tract problems. Dr. Goldstein is consistently named a “Top Doctor” in the treatment of gastrointestinal diseases by Washingtonian Magazine .  He has previously been honored with a Patients’ Choice Award having been selected as one of Virginia’s favorite physicians

Dr. Goldstein completed his fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the George Washington University.  He has been elected as a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP) and a Fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology (FACG).

He evaluates patients for all digestive tract problems with a particular interest in colon cancer prevention through colon cancer screening, gastroesophageal reflux disease, and peptic ulcer disease.

Dr. Goldstein attributes his diagnostic proficiency to his listening skills and the value he places on input from patients. He is passionate about continuing education and training in the most up-to-date diagnoses and treatments so that his patients always receive a well-informed opinion.

When not working, Dr. Goldstein enjoys spending time with his wife and three daughters. He is an exercise enthusiast, and can be found biking a century bike ride with friends or training for a triathlon.
